Grain Sack Love

Buckets of Burlap
Grain sacks...

Not just for grain and feed and livestock anymore.

Who doesn't love these versatile relics from ages past?

And who can boast that they once had a room in their home used solely for storing grain and the sacks it came in?

Uh...
That would be me.

What is now our upstairs bathroom, was at one time,
a feed and grain storage room.

Go figure.

Today, grain sacks are all the rage.

Just check out these beauties from Pinterest made out of...

You guessed it...

Grain sacks.

Etsy

Miss Mustard Seed

I mean, what's not to love?

Last month, I had the opportunity to snatch up
two boxes of these beauties!

I admit, I got into a bidding war over one set,
but you know me and my competitiveness.

Yep.

Won.

And sold one grain sack without ever leaving my seat,
recouping a portion of the cost.

Love it when that happens!

But, they've sat for the last month just waiting for me
to do something with them.

Of course, I went with the traditional route...

Pillows.

No sew, of course.

Because a seamstress, I ain't.

But one, I decided just to frame.

And I think the end result is great!

Perfect for a farmhouse kitchen!

The others got the poly-fill.

And the left over scraps...

Freezer Paper Transfers to mimic french grain sacks.

Tomorrow, I'll show you
step by step
exactly how I did this:

Hope to see y'all back here for the whole scoop!

XO,

  3. Great pillows. Tried to get my hands on a sack this weekend, but the store manager was quite the grump. I figured he was having a lousy day and left him and his sack alone :-(
    Keeping my eyes open though.
    Cheers. Here's to great week!
