He couldn't see past what is to what can be.
Luckily, I did.
Okay...
Honestly?
And then so did someone else.
And then it became a competition.
So, I had to win.
LOL!
After some thinking on it, I decided to try my hand at an Annie Sloan technique that involves mixing two colors of paint.
In this case...
Pure White and Coco
It gave the piece a look of weathered wood.
The original hardware was given a fresh coat of
Emperor's Silk to make them pop.
I added a thick jute twine as an accent
to the top, bottom, and sides.
It's a nod to my nautical east coast roots.
But just country enough to work in the midwest.
I think it's very Prairie Patina.
And I think I kind of like it.
Yeah.
I think I do.
How about you?

I've always stayed away from Waterfall furniture because it is so difficult to transform - but you just proved me wrong. Love the pop of red!! Great job!! :)
ReplyDeleteooh ooh ooh! I love it...I wish I had your brain when it came to deciding how and what color to paint furniture pieces!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who's not into waterfall style, I would have passed on bidding. And I wouldn't have had the vision to transform it as you did. You did well, grasshopper!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great. I have a waterfall dresser in my husband's garage that he uses for tool storage. I got it years ago and never fell in love with it. Maybe I'll steal it back and paint it up now!
ReplyDeleteWell, you did a great job transforming it! Also, I really like how you staged it in the last picture. I love all your pillows!
ReplyDeleteFantastic job! Just love the rope trim - and the red pop of color!
ReplyDeleteawesome job with the finish and i love the way the red pops!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty--I love the twine trim and the red drawer pulls.
ReplyDeleteOh gaud, why would you ruin a beautiful piece of furniture like that?! What is wrong with you?
