A Tale of Two Tables (2 Befores & Afters)

What a hectic couple of days!

You would think I would learn not to procrastinate
but I don't.

Do you remember remember the Sweet Pickles book series?

My momma read "Goof-Off Goose" to me
a gazillion times.

Did it stick?

Nope.

I always leave stuff to the last minute.

And then I run around frantically trying to beat a deadline.

So, the last week has been a crazy rush to complete a few things
for this month at The Changing Season.

That's why I've been MIA on here and Facebook.

ARGH.

One of these days, I will learn.

Maybe...

Probably not.

LOL!

Okay...

First up, is another oak pedestal table.

I could have sworn I had three in the shop, but I only had two.

The other resides in my living room.

This one got a little MMSMP "Shutter Gray"
with some antiquing wax.

No fancy staging for today's afters.

I had little light and even less time,
so I just threw it together in my dining room.

The chairs were originally covered with some hideous peeling brown pleather and I recovered them quickly last night with painter's canvas.

If I had been keeping them, I would have stenciled something on them for a little originality.

Yes, I know the floors are totally trashed -
a tale of a bad floor refinisher right there, let me tell ya.

Painting them is on the long list of never ending to-do's around our old house.

After two HORRIBLE contractors
refinishing them and both failing miserably, I give up.

Paint it is!

(We have the worst luck EVER with contractors.  The stories I could tell you!)

Anyhoo...

Back to the table....

I do love the Shutter Gray.

It has just the slightest hint of blue.

The MMSMP, on the other hand, takes some getting used to.

Now don't get me wrong,
I love this paint!

I love that it does what it was made to do.

But you just never know WHAT that doing is going to be.

On our pedestal table...

it hardly chipped at all.

On the one I did for the store,
it chipped and chipped and chipped and chipped.

And they were the same type wood.

I actually had to go back and repaint sections,
after adding the bonding agent.

So glad I had that on hand!

(Hey, I keep it real.  Sometimes, things don't work out the first time.  LOL!)

Oh well, all's well that ends well, right?

I think she's an understated beauty.

The next table I have had FOREVER.

6 months at least.

This was Scott's pick at an auction...

Missing in this before picture is the removable tray,
that comes off the top.

I'm sure you get the gist of it.

I painted this way back in June,
but it felt more fall-ish to me, so I held onto it.

Here it is today...

On this one, I used ASCP "Old White" and
the AS Dark Wax.

The tray center is a mirror with a fleur de lis-type motif.

I would imagine it originally came from Pier 1 or some other similar type store.

Scott was right.

It did look good painted white with the dark wax.

Honestly, I didn't see it, when he was so big on bidding on it.

LOL!

Scott - 2, Laura - 0.

;)

The tray part is definitely different that's for sure.

So, that's what I've been up to.

For local peeps,
the "How Now Brown Cow" sign
will be at The Changing Season for sale as well.

Scott was actually sad to see it go,
but I can always make another one, right?

Eventually.

Stay tuned Monday for a week long look
at what I spent two solid days doing last week.

And tomorrow...

It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas!

My absolute FAVORITE time of year!

Dream Big,
