Give Thanks In ALL Things

"In everything give thanks."

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Have you ever tried to be thankful in ALL things?

I mean, ALL things.

I'm not talking about the easy stuff.

It's easy to look at the husband that you love and
be thankful when he takes you out for a special dinner
or
brings you roses.

How hard is it to look upon your sleeping children
and feel your heart soften?

I'm talking about the hard stuff.

The annoying stuff.

The stuff that makes you want to pull your hair out.

How often do we get aggravated with these minor inconveniences,
instead of realizing that we're being blessed in experiencing them.

"Thank you, Lord for the dirty dishes
because it means we have food to eat."

"Thank you, Lord for the dirty laundry
because it means we have clothes to wear."

"Thank you , Lord for the dirty windows
because it means I have home to clean."

"Thank you for my bickering children
because it means they're healthy and here with me."

"Thank you for the pile of my husband's clothes on the floor
because it means he made it home safely from work."

Or how about the things
that we take for granted every day:

Waking up in the morning...

Drawing each breath...

Walking...

Speaking...

Seeing...

Hearing...

Feeling...  Even the most painful things.

How often do we not think about these things
until we are faced with no longer being able to do them?

This year, I am challenging myself
to be aware and to be thankful for even the tiniest of things.

"Thank you, Lord...  For my busy schedule
because it means I'm healthy and whole."

"Thank you, Lord...  For that flat tire.  I'm glad I have a car."

"Thank you, Lord...  For our struggles.
It makes me appreciate our blessings."

  5. A reminder for us all because we are all guilty of taking some things for granted. At least, most of us are! :-)

In europe, we don't celebrate thanksgiving but the holiday season does make us all think about everything we went through in the passing year.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

It's all part of our lives and shapes us to who we are. It takes a lot of strenght to understand and accept how the bad and the ugly can have a positive effect on you as a person in the long run. It is a lot easier to just look at the good stuff that we were blessed with.

Thank you for sharing this post with us. I didn't expect such a powerfull message this morning. It definitely reached me.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate and a Wonderfull Holiday season to all!

    Love, Dee
