Well, I decided after the Primpin' Your Pumpkin debacle,
I would not wait until the last minute this time around.
I always seem to miss their fun parties!
So, with a few weeks to think on it and prepare,
I went to Dollar Tree and loaded up with anything
I thought I could possibly use.
(And I mean ANYTHING - I loaded up an entire cart!)
I was determined not to miss this one.
Even though, I had NO CLUE what I was going to do!
Funnily enough, it was the very last items I threw in the cart
as an afterthought, that I ended up using.
Go figure.
Three packages of 6 count styrofoam snowflake ornaments.
At least I think they're styrofoam.
They're foam of some sort, at least.
And I didn't really think I'd end up even using them.
HA!
Wrong!
Today I'm going to show you how to turn some pretty
non-descript snowflakes into some pretty cool stair swags.
This is what you're going to need...
2 Packages of 6 Count Dollar Tree Snowflakes
White Satin Spray Paint
Spray Adhesive
Faux Snow/Glitter
Evergreen Boughs
Satin Ribbon
3M Hooks
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Step 1: Spray paint the snowflake.
Step 2: Spray snowflake with the Spray Adhesive.
Step 3: Sprinkle faux snow/glitter on your snowflakes.
Step 4: Let your snowflakes dry for at least an hour.
(I let mine dry overnight.)
Step 5: Arrange small evergreen branches in a bunch
and tie the ends with twine or florist wire.
Make a small loop on the back to use as a hanger.
Step 6: Form bows out of your satin ribbon.
I don't have pictures of the next few steps,
because I was working my swag assembly line
like an elf with a Christmas Eve deadline.
;)
It's pretty straight-forward.
Step 7: Hot glue your snowflake to your twine.
Step 8: Hot glue your bow to your snowflake.
Step 9: Adhere your 3M hooks to hang your swags.
Step 10: Hang your swags and admire your work.
YOUR STAIRWAY GOT SWAGGER, BABY!
Oh yes, it does!
From the bottom to the top...
And for pennies on the dollar...
Since I used everything I already had on hand,
with the exception of the snowflakes...
And the evergreen branches were "borrowed" from my in-law's,
each swag ran me a whopping....
16.6 CENT!
HOLLA!
Cheap...
and
Easy.
I think I just figured out why Scott married me.
HA!
JOKING!

ReplyDeleteYou have great ideas. Love that you did individual sways instead of one big garland. Your ribbon is beautiful. It adds a very luxurious look.
