Hey, girlfriends!
Brrrrrr!!!!
Perfect for staying inside and painting or crafting.
Monday I was so excited when I got this in the mail:
I had pre-ordered Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint
way back in July from Miss Flibbertigibbet
so I would be sure to get some as soon as it was released for sale.
I cannot tell you how much
I've been looking forward to using this paint!
It doesn't matter how hard you try to give a piece of furniture a realistic distressed look, you still can't get it exactly right.
Something about it just looks forced.
The awesome thing about MMSMP is that it self-distresses.
You have no control of where and how it's going to do it,
or
or
even if it will.
It just does it.
So way exciting to wait and see just what it's going to do.
Or maybe I'm just weird like that.
;)
I have to say, the mixing of the paint worried me,
but it was as easy as pie.
And the application?
Fantastic!
It definitely has a different feel from latex, acrylic, or chalk paint,
but the coverage is still phenomenal!
And no runs or build up on edges or corners!
BONUS!
On Tuesday, I revealed my living room to you.
In the back west corner was this oak pedestal table
that I won on an auction back in May.
I think we paid $20.00 for it.
I was (and still kind of am) dissatisfied with this corner of the room.
I think Gee Singh Newbanks hit the nail on the head when she commented that I was feeling "meh" over it because it showcases more of the wood tones in the room.
Right on, girlfriend!
I am not a big one for wood tones.
I think that's a woman thing.
So, I knew when the MMSMP arrived
that this piece was going to be the first thing I tackled.
I was specifically waiting for "Lucketts Green".
It is the perfect color green.
(IMO)
Not green-green, but just a nice mellow green
with subtle undertones of yellow and blue.
And an exact match to the greens I have in my office
and on my dining room walls.
So, I painted the base of the table in the MMSMP.
Just to mix it up a little and give it a more personal feeling, I decided to put the first initial of our last name on the top
using La Craie "Magnolia".
You can order La Craie from
And for good measure, I put a circle around it:
Then I distressed it, to give it
more of an aged patina to match the base.
Prairie Style for sure.
I never cease to be amazed at how
a little paint can transform a space.
Before:
After:
And with my Dollar Store plates along with some thrift store and auction goodies, it feels a little more homey.
On the cheap, of course.
;)
Now, I just need to get that rug and paint that armoire
and I think I'll be satisfied.
Except for the fact that Scott says that every time he comes into the room he feels like he needs to duck and look up because a helicopter might be landing on our table.
LOL!
Oh well, my last name used to start with a "D"
and now I'm stuck with an "H".
Now who's fault is that?
;)
Oh well...
If a helicopter ever needs to land close by, we'll just lug it outside to guide them in.
HA!
Dream Big,
**The opinions of this post are my own. I am not endorsing or sponsoring MMSMP. In fact, I'm certain Miss Mustard Seed doesn't know I exist. ;)

the green colour is spot on - you definitely needed something to break up all the wood tones in that corner...looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE it!!! It ties everything together just perfectly!! I like how the colors of the Ball jars really stand out with the table! GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I've always loved those pedestal tables. Made someone a king size quilt by hand once in exchange for one, and ended up selling it many moons ago. Oh, if only I could have it back! This looks so fantastic, and makes your jars up atop the other piece really stand out. Great job!

Absolutely love it! I really enjoy your posts.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I laughed SO out loud about the helicopter comment... Tell Scott I thought that was hilarious :)

I love, love, LOVE it! That made all the difference in the room, and it's so much more pleasing to the eye now. The "H" is a great personal touch...I wouldn't even have thought about a landing pad until Scott mentioned it! Eh...men!
ReplyDeleteOMG Laura it turned out fabulous!!! Did you make that cow sign too? How did you make your circle? I am wanting to do something similar to the table I am working on but still trying to figure out the best way to accomplish a steady oval. Thanx for linking up to THT! Your talent amazes me.
ReplyDeleteOH WOW!!!!! That is amaaazingly beautiful Laura :-) Going back to look again. Luving the table scape as well. Especially the jar o flatware.

ReplyDeleteHave a good day, Nancy
Coming to you from Inspiration Friday! The table is so pretty painted green! Great transformation! :)
ReplyDeleteMO BETTA! Love the color & finish. Maybe you can find or make a rag rug out to go with your color scheme, or stencil a cream or jute rug.
ReplyDeletewhat a great post! MMS should thank you... you've sold me on her Paint, even though I've been reading about it for months now!
ReplyDeletePerfect application of milk paint. Love how it changes up the corner.

I love the Luckette's green so much, it looks great on your table!
ReplyDeleteYour table is so incredible, love the style. You hit it great with the Luckett's Green which can go with so much, it's like a neutral.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that other piece, is it a buffet hutch? Whatever it is it's gorgeous and I also love the HowNow sign. Did you make that also? Would it be ok if I copied it? Believe me my interpretation won't be anywhere near as good as yours.
I've just subscribed as I can't wait to see what else you do. Will be visiting your blog often.
If you do reply please do so at: [email protected] Thanks
This is just gorgeous! You have taken something already wonderful and brought it to the next level of beauty and charm.
