Armoire: {A Before & After}

It's a happy day, y'all!

I finally was able to do a little painting the last couple of days
and it feels good to get back to normal!

Last week, I posted this picture
to my Facebook page giving my followers the option to choose to my next project:

After an hour, y'all chose...

The Armoire!

Here's what I started out with...

Dated wood...

Horrendous hardware...

What were they thinking???

And check out the placement of the pukey pulls...

Ummmm...  No.

A little bit of La Craie "Magnolia"...

AS Dark Wax...

Some new knobbage courtesy of HL...

AS Silver Gilding wax...

And she's very Frenchy Foo-Foo.

The interior got a little
MMSMP love.

The color?

Kitchen Scale.

LOVE!

And it's a great place to store my dishes.

The detailing was actually a happy mistake.

I wanted the detailing to stand out
but I wanted something a little different
than the usual antiquing wax.

I applied the gilding wax and hated it.

It was too much.

So I put another coat of the La Craie back over the top of it.

Then I waxed it.

The coat of paint was removed just slightly and
the gilding wax that was revealed is just right.

And perfectly matches the knobs I chose.

I love it when stuff like that happens!

I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it.

It's definitely a little fancy for our living room.

I'm going to leave it and see if it grows on me.

Something tells me, it just might!

Dream Big,

  7. Big job but well worth all the hard work. The wood detailing is so much more prevalent with all the waxing and aging you did. I love it!

  18. Im checking it out again:) I have been looking for a corner hutch for 3 years that I like and have not found one. But now looking back at yours, I am rethinking my plan. Maybe I shouldn't go with a corner piece. I could still angel it in the corner like you have, which would make the piece more user friendly if I ever want to relocate it. I still want yours but will have to find one of my own.
