Monday, I got a wild hair to knock out the downstairs bathroom.YAY!
I'm done!
So, that brings the total of rooms completed in this old house up to 4.
I won't think about the others.
Not thinking.... Not thinking...
Ugh.
I went very simple with this makeover, which is a little different for me.
I decided to dress up the space with a striped accent wall.
It also serves a dual purpose of making that small little space
look wider with horizontal stripes.
Props to Scott for measuring and taping those off for me!!!
Thank you, dear for ALWAYS pitching in to help
with my hare-brained, last minute ideas!
:)
I had NO budget - and I mean ZERO.
So, I guess I'm technically in the negative because
I did have to go out and buy a quart of paint.
;)
Otherwise, I used everything that I had on hand or stashed in the attic.
I stole the mirror from my St. Patrick's Day Mantle HERE.
And gave it and the light fixtures a coat of white homemade chalk paint.
The pedestal sink is actually perfect for the space, so I'm happy with it.
And I decided to get a bit junky with the toilet paper holder...
Two hooks like I used on EVA'S WINDOW TREATMENTS and some jute twine.
Surprisingly, it works really well and changing the roll
only requires pulling the knot and wrapping it back after I'm done.
I think it's pretty cool.
And because I loved the hook in Eva's Room so much,
using the old door knob plate and hinge bolt, I made another one.
I just need to make a loop on a hand towel to hook it.
I got rid of the curtain because it just made the space seem smaller.
Plus, it was always falling.
Drove me crazy!
;)
The shelves look bright and clean with a fresh coat of paint.
I used the apothecary jars from EVA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY and
some Blue Ball Jars to hold miscellaneous stuff.
A wire basket holds hand towels and wash clothes -
of which I need more whites!
And I spray painted an old egg basket to hold extra toilet paper.
Very simple organization.
My favorite part of the bathroom is this wall and the sign I made.
Desiree from The 36th Avenue
posted this quote on Facebook Tuesday:
Her comment on it was, "Jump."
I don't know why, but it just stuck with me.
So, I decided to paint it on an old piece of Pine Board.
I'm definitely NOT an artist,
but I don't think my rendition is too horrible.
LOL!
I really love it on that striped wall.
All in all I'm happy with our newest space.
There's not much I can do with such a small room,
but just a little bit of color makes it a much brighter and happier spot.
The kids love the striped wall and Scott loves the yellow.
WINNING!
;)
Here's the before:
and the after for a side by side comparison:
Much better!
Don't you think?

I can't believe you knocked it out that fast..(and this is coming from the worlds most impatient person) You KILLED it..I can't believe when you said you were gonna do it today..You meant ALL of it...and the sign is my favorite too.

So quick, so thrifty and so much brighter. Good job on both the renovation and artwork. Great quote.
ReplyDeletethat is AMAZING!!! Love the yellow and the stripes. I did horizontal stripes in my foyer, a pale aqua, and I LOVE THEM!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cheery and I find it quite funny that your sign has someone looking down at water and being "coaxed" to jump while it is above the toilet ;) And your t/paper holder cracks me up. Your mind is on a roll. Pun intended.
ReplyDeleteLove how it turned out, you are so creative!!
ReplyDeleteI love how your little bathroom turned out! Sometimes I think people get too carried away trying to "decorate" such a small space so I think your simpler design is just perfect. It's so bright, airy, and clean looking and I just love all the character old homes have with their slanted walls and nooks and crannies!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, bet that feels good! :o)
Tania

ReplyDeleteYou're a ROCKSTAR!!! I LOVE it!!! Your artwork is FABULOUS!!! Great transformation!! Hugs!! Claire
ReplyDeleteLaura it's FANTASTIC! You are a crazy woman! I TOLD YOU it wouldn't be long before Scott jumped in there! HA! Your picture came out great, at least from this shot....for all we know that's a monkey faced girl standing on the diving board......don't ask- don't tell.......that's my motto....
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful transfermation! And I LOVE that sign! I was hoping you would say where you bought it! Shoot, I don't know if I could paint something like that, but you make me feel tempted to try! Anyways, once again, WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteJaime
