Lots of weird angles, windows, built ins, and what not, drives me nuts!
It's taken a lot of moving things around and trying furniture placement out to figure out what works...
And what doesn't.
When we first moved in to this old house,
I had my dining room in the office
and
the office in the dining room.
I thought having a separate space for our computer area
was a great idea.
But I soon realized that having the dining room in the parlor
was a huge waste of space.
Plus, the table, no matter where I put it,
was always in the walking path from the living room to the stairs.
And the dining room table (when not being blogged about)
had become a total crap catcher.
{Keeping it real!}
Long story short, it wasn't working.
So, instead of working on one of the other many rooms
in this old house that need it,
I decided to get rid of one thing that was nagging me.
I switched the rooms.
Ah-Gain.
That's right.
The dining room turned office got turned back into the dining room.
I decided that I'm going to make my house work for me,
not the other way around.
Soooo...
Despite all that hard work last year about this same time...
My office now looks like this:
I know...
It's kind of a different look for me.
It's bright.
It's sassy.
It's kind of fun.
I guess I've decided to embrace the fact that I live in the Midwest.
I don't live on the coast anymore.
It might not be sand and surf, but farm life can be fun.
So, it's a little mix of coastal colors with a prairie farmhouse feel.
And nothing says farm like blue ball jars,
distressed furniture, and cows.
Right?
Moo.
;)
I haven't decided if the look is too childish or not,
but it does make me smile.
And I can't keep the kids out the room,
so that must mean it's a bright and happy space.
:)
If you've noticed that I haven't shown you an entire wall...
Well, you're right.
The mantle not only got a new look for March,
it also got a little bit of a face-lift.
I hope you'll check back tomorrow!

It's lovely!!!!
