DIY 50th Anniversary Invitations

The more I start perusing the internet,
the more excited I get about helping to plan
my in-law's 50th anniversary celebration.

One of my jobs is their invitations.

Well, you know me...

Why buy something when you can just make it?

So, one of the first things I did was google
50th anniversary invitations.

I'm one of those people who reads the Celebrations section
of the Sunday newspaper, just to look at the anniversary pictures.

I just love seeing how an older couple looked when they were young.

Maybe I'm just weird like that.

;)

So, when I came across this sample invitation...

I knew it was just what I wanted to do.

Simple + Elegant + Picture

Why not let everyone we're inviting see how gorgeous
Mom and Dad were on their wedding day in May of 1963?

Pic Monkey was great for helping me fix their picture
and put a frame around it.

I simply designed the rest of the invitation in iPages
and then printed it out on a thick ivory parchment paper.

Then, using a paper cutter, I slowly brought the blade down
so it would have roughened edges.

While the jury is still out on whether this is acceptable
 to my three sister-in-law's,
I'm pretty tickled with how it turned out.

And all for the cost of the paper, ink, and ribbon.

Works for me!

  3. Today, while I was
at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can
survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube
sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
    I
know this is completely off topic but I had to share
    it with someone!

  4. Looks to me like you did a wonderful job. What more could sil's want? If they wanted to have the say then they should have volunteered to make the invitations. Hope it works out with them.
