Hey y'all...
Boy! It feels so great to do something completely normal, like write a blog post!
Thank the good Lord, Talie is safe at home and well on the mend!
The doctor said it would be quite a while before her lungs were completely clear, and that Savanna and Coty would have to be extra vigilant during her infancy if she should become sick again.
But, for Talie to be home today is such a blessing and a huge relief!
So, it feels super great to sit here and type this knowing everything is all right in our little world. :)
Before I left for NC, I posted about our Summer Mantle:
Who knew our story this summer would be so miraculous?!
Today, I'm going to show you just how I repurposed a $6.00 window
that I picked up in NC, into a flag.
Total Cost: $8.00
Materials:
Old Window
2 coordinating fabrics
Scissors
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Tutorial Instructions:
1) Place your window face down with the side
that you want facing outward down.
2) Next, take a piece of fabric of your color choice and rip it into a square and into eight (8) equal width strips. I found this fabric at "Second Blessings" in Morehead City, NC for $1.00.
{I ended up adding a fourth strip to the bottom section, after I took this photo, so there would be 13 stripes.}
3) Cut out stars from white fabric and glue them
to your square of colored fabric.
4) Trim your strips of fabric on the top portion to length,
otherwise they will show through as dark lines behind the square of stars.
5) Place your square of fabric face down
and hot glue the square and the strips into place.
6) Lay a large piece of white fabric across the back of your window
and trim to fit. Pull the fabric tight, holding it in place with tacks.
7) Hot Glue the edges down, keeping the fabric pulled tight,
as you work your way around the edges.
It should look like this, after you're done:
And when it's all said in done, you should have a flag window.
It's a super cheap and easy way to repurpose an old window.
And it's always so fun to take something old and make it useful again!
:)

I am so glad that Talie is on the mend. What scary times you went through! Your window is beautiful - shabby and chic! I wonder if I could come up with a Canadian flag version??
