Prairie Style Love Mantle {A Reveal}

Have you ever wondered what marriages/relationships
were like back in the day?

I know there are times during our busiest seasons that sometimes I don't do much more than grunt at Scott and I'm asleep before my head hits the pillow.

It seems like the older I get the more often I'm like that.

LOL!

I can't even begin to imagine what women did back then.

Ever single chore was time consuming and required back breaking labor.

I can't even begin to imagine having enough energy
to devote to cultivating a relationship with my husband.

We have much to be thankful for in the modern day conveniences that make our jobs as wives and mothers so much easier than our forebears.

This year, I kept our Valentine's Mantle pretty simple.

I am so glad I moved that picture frame turned chalkboard above the mantle for Christmas.

I'm sad to say that it proclaimed good tidings until yesterday.

LOL!

This time around, I kept it uber simple.

Heart.

Love.

Done.

Glass Bottles.

White Poms glued onto small twigs,
reminding me of the Cotton Bolls of my childhood in the South.

An Enamelware Pitcher.

Old books.

A thrift store bird.

And the most recent picture of Scott and me.

It'll be 15 years in August.

Hard to believe!

But I think my favorite part of the entire mantle is the
paper hearts glued onto a piece of barn wood siding.

Or maybe our initials carved into a Birch log.

Scott asked me, "Ooooooooo!  Is this our "Loooooove" mantle?"

*snort*

Leave it to my husband to come up with that zinger.

But I like it.

Simple.

Not flashy.

Comforting.

Constant.

Kind of like our love.

So, yes Dear...  It is our looooooove Mantle."

;)

  17. Last I heard you were taking a nap today. I'm glad you didn't, the mantel is wonderful. Makes me think of carving our initials into something. Mine and Brawns, not mine and yours.
