For our Christmas Tablescape this year,
I decided to continue with the cheaper is better theme
that I started this fall with my $15.00 Fall Tablescape.
The cost of this year's Christmas Tablescape?
$1.00
Yep.
You heard me correctly...
| Amanda Carol At Home |
One George Washington.
No more, no less.
And this was my inspiration:
Obviously, I like a good challenge.
;)
I love the aqua, silver, white and gold.
Mercury Glass.
Sigh.
But I didn't want to buy anything new.
One question:
How was I going to pull this one off?
Well...
If you got it, use it.
Don't like it, spray paint it.
That doesn't work...
Spray it with Adhesive Spray and cover it with Epsom Salt.
Viola...
I started with an old frame turned upside down
and placed a thrift store tray that I got back in October on top.
The tray had been a gaudy gold and was NASTY.
It was only $0.75,
so for that price I figured I could clean it and spray paint it.
So, I did...
Silver.
I had all of one mercury glass candle holder,
two mercury glass votives,
and a mercury glass ornament.
My mercury glass candle holders hadn't arrived yet from Decor Steals.
Bummer.
What I did have was three gold candlesticks from last year.
More silver spray paint.
Lots of silver ornaments, but no gold, aqua, or white.
Improvise.
Bronze, Light blue, clear, and silver.
And a gold bird.
And a few white Dollar Tree Bottle Brush Christmas Trees.
Works for me.
Silver Chargers...
$1.00 each from Walmart last year.
Plates and bowls...
Dollar Tree last spring.
Mismatched silverware just because...
And pinecones spray painted silver,
sprayed again with Spray Adhesive,
and covered in Epsom Salts for place card holders.
(I do not recommend doing this craft and then stuffing pillows with poly-fill.
Your hands will look like they've been tarred and feathered
and it takes Brillo pads (emphasis on the "S") to get it off.
You know... A friend told me they did that once and I just wanted to pass that along.
(Insert angelic look here.)
Placemats, cloth napkins, napkin rings, and glassware...
Totally on hand.
Such a fresh look!
And I have to say works wonderfully
with the rest of the dining room decorations.
I have to admit, I'm loving all the silver and aqua this year!
Sometimes it's nice to step out of your comfort zone
and do things little different.
You might just find a new niche.
